Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Cottage Hill Historic District is Montgomery's oldest neighborhood. Development began in the 1830's and the historic architecture, old growth trees and sense of times past are felt throughout the area. Cottage Hill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. This neighborhood is full of friendly locals all with a great story to tell! Walkable to downtown, a short walk to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, and walkable to The Hilltop Public House - a local favorite coffee shop / bar / live music where you'll run into a mix of local artists, politicians, lawyers, service members and more!

The neighborhood is very walkable and National Memorial for Peace and Justice is a few blocks away. Downtown is walkable as well but there are some hills which might be strenuous for unseasoned walkers. 24/7 street parking ok. There is a driveway which can accommodate up to two vehicles depending on their size. The house is located right off I-65 and I-85.

We had a wonderful stay in Christina and Barry's lovely home. It was exactly as described and totally walkable to all of the Equal Justice Initiative sites. Christina and Barry were so responsive and flexible with us. The space was great, the furnishings comfortable and it was all so clean! We would definitely recommend this home if you are planning to be in Montgomery.

We highly recommend this charming, spacious and comfortable house in the Cottage Hill neighborhood. It’s an easy walk or drive to downtown Montgomery. It’s well-supplied with pots and pans for cooking. There were also ample supplies of things like toilet paper, paper towels, and dish-washing necessities (something we always appreciate!) The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay.

Cottage Hill is a lovely centrally-located neighborhood near downtown Montgomery, AL. The houses are all 100+ years old and many have been meticulously maintained. Christina & Barry's house is a wonderful place to stay: peaceful, warm, homely. Super-high ceilings, gorgeous light, comfortable mattresses. Very clear instructions on what to do. While the city of Montgomery has seen better days, Whitman Street is quiet and lovely. There are five of us, and we loved every part of our stay. We would eagerly return.

As the listing indicates, this is an older house that's been recently renovated, and comes with all of the charm and modern amenities you would expect. We stayed here instead of a hotel for a few days with two kids while we were in town for a tournament, and we were pleased with the house and the hosts. We'll certainly consider booking again!
